Write a report about measuring emotional happy and angry face recognition accuracy amongst social drinkers following both alcohol and a matched placebo drink.

Write a report about measuring emotional happy and angry face recognition accuracy amongst social drinkers following both alcohol and a matched placebo drink.

 Description

Measurements of happy and angry faces.

The research report will consist of the standard sections of an APA style research report, which include the Title, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion sections, followed by a Reference section using APA format.

The research report you submit will be based a placebo controlled, experimentally manipulated alcohol study. This study involved measuring emotional face recognition accuracy amongst social drinkers following both alcohol (.4g/kg dosage) and a matched placebo drink. Data is open and made available for the purposes of this assignment.

Emotional faces are a form of non-verbal communication that can influence behavior. It is likely that acute alcohol consumption impairs the ability to accurately identify emotions displayed in faces. We aimed to test this. For this assignment, you will be able to test the influence alcohol has on emotion recognition of the six basic emotions (happy, angry, sad, disgust, fear and surprise). Specifically, you will need to select two of these emotions and build a rationale for why you anticipate that alcohol may affect the processing of these two emotions.

Your hypothesis will need to be based on evidence from recent research (publications within the past 10 years). As a great starting point, you should read the review by Attwood & Munafo 2014. You may use this reference in your assignment, but you also want to explore the literature base further to really strengthen your arguments.

Remember a clear and thorough review of evidence will help you build a strong rationale.Aim to provide an additional 4 (or more) recent research references in the Introduction section to provide a strong rational for your hypothesis.
