Description
– Identify and discuss different forms of crime control approaches in your town or city. (In this case, use Halifax, Nova Scotia as the city for research.)
Demarcate these approaches based on whether they are a “formal” or “informal” form of social control. Research for this exercise can be gathered from Internet web sites, the news media, books and articles, etc.
Grading Criteria is as follows: follow these steps as stated:
1.) The essay addresses the exercise topic and is written with a high level of description and analysis (i.e., it reflects strong analytical skills) –
10 points
2) The essay reflects what you learned about that particular topic that is the focus of the exercise (from the course and your own research) –
10 points
3) The essay demonstrates that you conducted research outside of the textbook and other course resources (i.e., you conducted primary research and/or secondary research using library resources) –
5 points
4) The resulting essay is structured logically and formatted to commonly accepted standards (APA or MLA) –
3 points
5) The resulting essay is grammatically and stylistically rigorous (i.e., there are minimal grammatical or syntax problems) –
2 points
