Description

Word Limit: 4,500 ± 10% (excluding references)

Here are some instructions on how you are invited to engage with this group assignment:

Choose any 2 case studies from the 2 books of case studies on VLE:

• Strike & Soltis, The Ethics of Teaching (Chapter 8) and

• Zubay & Soltis, Creating the Ethical School

Read the case studies well, think about them, and discuss as a group the ethical issues that arise in these case studies.

Divide the assignment into 2 sections: 1 section for each case study.

Copy and paste the 2 case studies under consideration, and engage with the “discussion questions” at the end of the case study in the book.

Think about and discuss the ethical issues that emerge from the case studies through the different ethical theories discussed in class. Remember that there could be various ethical issues in the case studies, and that various ethical theories can be applicable to the case studies.

Think about whether and, if so, how policy documents, legal issues, and rights considerations shed light on these case studies.

Think about how the case study can be analysed in view of the Teachers’ Code of Ethics.

Discuss the various possible action/s that you would take if you found yourselves in the circumstances described in the case study. Why would you act and react in that way?

Support your arguments with references to academic literature on the topics being discussed.
