Assignment Brief:
You are required to develop a 1500-word reflection on your recorded simulation (PR1) and the feedback you received. You should present your feedback from your simulation (PR1) as an appendix after your reference list, you can copy and paste this.
General Information:
You have two opportunities at this assignment. If you do not pass at the first attempt (D-) you are able to re-submit, a pass grade will be capped at a D-. Refer to the undergraduate grading criteria. Anything which exceeds the 10% over wordcount will not be marked. You must include the word count on the front cover.
If you did not pass your simulation (PR1) at the first attempt, you must still submit your reflection (AS2) on the first AS2 submission date.
To pass this assessment you must meet learning outcomes a, b, e, f. The reflection is graded using the undergraduate grading criteria against how well you achieve the module learning outcomes.

Learning Outcomes:
a) Explore own leadership style to enable understanding of your impact in a professional nursing context.
b) Build self and situational awareness though responding constructively to feedback
e) Reflect on personal contribution to the team and identify strategies for self-development.
f) Select an appropriate strategy to develop identified personal, professional and interprofessional values.

What do I need to do?
Using the assessor’s feedback from your recorded simulation (PR1) and your own personal reflection you need to write about what happened, what went well and what went not so well and what you have learnt from this process and what you need to develop; considering this you will need to inform the reader ‘WHY’ by supporting your discussions with the evidence base (reliable sources) using the Harvard Referencing format. Ensure you are consistent in citing the evidence base throughout your work.
Note – In text references are included in your word count ; your reference list is not included in the word count

The Structure of Your Reflection:

Do not use a model to structure your reflection.
You are required to use the structure below:
Section 1: Introduction – This should tell the reader what you are going to do it should be brief and to the point, concisely written.
You should consider explaining why using reflection aids developing skills and self-awareness [LO e] (Jasper, 2014).
To maintain confidentiality state that your service user has a pseudonym, consider the professional standards in relation to confidentiality and consent as the evidence base for this . [LO f]

Section 2: LO a

This learning outcome is about how you organised yourself and how you delivered the information, i.e., what information you choose for your leaflet and why? What did you consider when structuring the information why was this important?
What did you consider when planning and delivering the information for your simulation?
Note – Look at the session you had around preparation of the leaflet.

Section 3: LO f
This is about covering the values of person-centred care, your own values and those of other professionals. You will need to demonstrate you have considered these in the preparation (for example NHS values, 6c’s) and demonstrated these in your simulation.
Consider the importance of confidentiality.
Consider how you presented the information in a professional way. Why is this important?
Consider how you identified your role. Why is this important?
Consider what have you learned from this process and what can you take forward and what do you still need to develop, how will you do this?

Section 4: LO b
This is about how you respond to and learn from receiving constructive feedback (NMC, 2018).
Explain what you think and feel about the feedback you have received.
Did your feedback match your thoughts and feelings about your communication?
What did you do well and why? Where do you think you might have done better and why?
Have you become more self-aware? (consider the Johari Window).

Section 5: LO e
Show that you have considered your role as a nurse within a team and identify how you will develop yourself in your role. Recognise and explain the importance of understanding the roles of the interprofessional team (including your role), why is this important
Consider how you communicated this information and how this related to the service user.
Section 6: Conclusion LO a, b, e, f – This is where you synthesise the information (bring it all together) What have you learned from this process and what can you take forward and what do you still need to develop. How will you do this?
Note: Do not bring any new information into the conclusion

General Advice in Academic Writing
Include the word count on a front cover page
Student number and page number to be included on every page (use a footer)
Consider how, what, why and when in your discussions
Support your discussions with evidence (reliable sources). Link the evidence that you are referencing to your practice to enhance the discussion (the Why) of how well you think you did or why it did not go as well as you hoped
Do use ‘I’ when reflecting as it is about your own practice, thoughts, feelings and behaviour. You are NOT required to use a model of reflection

Use an 11 or 12-point size font
Use a clear font such as Verdana or Arial
1.5 line spacing
Double spacing between paragraphs
Avoid using direct quotes – paraphrase the information to show your understanding of the information
Do not use contractions in an academic piece of work e.g. don’t wouldn’t couldn’t
Do not use colloquial language (how you would speak/conversational language ) in an academic piece of work e.g. I was really fed up, doing my head in etc.
