What intellectual activity do you most want to explore in your life? What ideas do you want your mind to contemplate, understand, and master? For example, do you care about ideas focusing on the philosophical, scientific, artistic, religious, political, practical, cultural, etc. and why do you think you are attracted to what you are attracted to?

Description

Do your writing this week with this wisdom in mind.

To clarify, you need to write two paragraphs: one on work and one on ideas. The questions below concerning each are meant to help you formulate what you want to say but you don’t need to go through them point by point. The idea is to get you thinking about your ideals when it comes to work and to higher ideas. As you do your thinking and writing be sure to incorporate the lectures and required readings.

For the discussion this week you can post your writing in the forum or you can email me your post if you prefer more privacy. There are no response posts required this week.

1. What sort of work is important for you? What concrete job or labor or activity would you most like to do everyday? What activity and environment will create you into the person you want to become? Is your “dream” job viable or is it probably not possible? What will you have to give up (or sacrifice) to do what you want to do?

What values, meaning, and understanding will this “ideological” pursuit tap into for you? Are there any dangers to this pursuit?
