This assignment is an opportunity for you to learn more about nonhuman primates. Have you ever wondered why a macaque is staring at you and yawning at the same time? Or why a gorilla beats its chest or pounds on the glass and runs away? Or why chimpanzees love to display their dominance? These are just a few of the behaviors that our primate cousins experience. Instead of observing them at a zoo, you will be writing a paper on any nonhuman primate that lives today.

Choose one primate species and address the following in your paper:

Scientific name

Distribution

Physical appearance

Diet

Behavior patterns

Social system

Locomotion

Conservation status and threats

Format

The paper needs to in MLA (Links to an external site.) or APA (Links to an external site.)

Typed (11or12 point font)

Double-spaced

Default margin settings (approx. 1” top/bottom 1” left/right)

Paper needs to be at least four pages in length.

You must use two or more references in the paper.

References Cited must be on a separate page.
