In this assignment, you will do as H.G. Wells, and Julie Kaomea did and create a short story/script which demonstrates your understanding of the theory “culture as disability.” Your short story needs to be an example of how someone has been disabled by their culture. It should model an anthropology tale, as described in the article by McDermott and Verenne (1995), and make two strong points, “the first, that we are arrogant to think we know better than people in other cultures, and the second, that we are foolish to not appreciate how much is known by others in their own terms” (p. 325).
Be sure to pay attention to grammar/mechanics. Try and be as creative as you can in your writing! Your story should be about 2 pages in length.
