COURSEWORK 1: PROJECT-WORK
Introduction
This coursework has been created to develop your communication skills and allow you to gain experience of the project environment.

Students have a number of options to deliver this coursework. We encourage you work within a learning group, however ultimately the submission is individual and must be unique.

The options are:

1. Approach a company known to you (this may even be your employer if you are a part time student) and negotiate appropriate research activity to meet the coursework requirements. If you are approaching a company, you might consider discussing the briefing material in appendix B of the module handbook.

2. Team up with a part-time student who is able to offer you the opportunity to introduce you to one of their company projects.

3. Approach the module team for a company contact (numbers limited). This is typically more appropriate for full time students.

NO STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO PHYSICALLY VISIT ANY SITE AND ALL PROJECT WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE VIRTUALLY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Task
This coursework represents 40% of the total coursework mark for this module. You are expected to undertake virtual project-work either as a group or an individual, however, the submission is on an individual basis. The purpose of this coursework is to track a project or a sub contract package, depending on the value of the overall project.
You will need to create a structured report 1500 words to explain the steps you have taken to meet the assessment criteria.

What should your submission include?
Evidence from the project will be required to support your analysis (Clearly anything commercially sensitive to the contractor cannot be made available).
A report approximately 1500 words is anticipated in response to this coursework. Supporting information in an appendix would not be included in this word count. Please write in the Third person.

Assessment Criteria

n addition to the general criteria identified above, the coursework will be assessed based on student’s ability to create a report that:

• Demonstrate a baseline of information against which the project / package can be measured; this could be cost, program, quality or productivity related

• Demonstrate an ability to track changes associated with a project or package of work.

• Explain how over time the project has changed, this could include, but not limited to a review of program, commercial and/or team management.

• Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the project and subject areas you have selected to review

• Demonstrates the student has undertaken the activity over a period of time

• Create a well-structured report using good written English.

• Referencing as appropriate is included using the Harvard style

• Report must have Introduction, table of content and conclusion (the introduction and conclusion is part of the word count).
