Introduce blockchain technology to schools that are not yet participating. Using a distributive ledger can improve how we as educators store information and distribute information in a traceable way.

Emerging Trend: BlockChain Technology

Target Audience: Colleagues

Blockchain technology is often heard when discussing cryptocurrencies but can also be used in education. Blockchain technology can potentially change how students apply to colleges, enroll in courses, request or update student records and even be used to verify credentials and/ or skills.

My goal is to introduce blockchain technology to schools that are not yet participating. Using a distributive ledger can improve how we as educators store information and distribute information in a traceable way.

One of the most noteworthy examples of using blockchain technology in education is by using it to distribute certificates. As an educator, you can award a “certificate” or “skill” onto a student’s personal blockchain where employers or colleges can see and know that it is verified by an institution.
