Second Language Teaching Philosophy Essay

As a class synthesis, students are required to write an essay, detailing their informed second language teaching philosophy, based on what they have learned in the course. Students may refer to the following points as prompts: how you understand language and second language acquisition, how you perceive a second language can be best taught, the goals you wish to achieve in working with English Language Learners (ELLs), and how to achieve your goals. Students are encouraged to freely and thoroughly identify and examine their personal philosophies of second language teaching. Please do not have concerns about writing this essay in the first person as this is your personal second language teaching philosophy. The title of the essay should be “My Second Language Teaching Philosophy.” Please do not change the title.
